Close to the hotel you will find SIIDA, S
mi museum and Nature
Centre, which offers versatile exhibitions and happenings on S mi
culture and surrounding nature. In SIIDA you can also get information
about wilderness trails and best fishing spots. The modern S mi
culture is also exhibited in the many craft shops of the village.
On Lake Inari you will get acquainted
with our nature. On the
cruise boat you will get to visit Ukko, our ancient sacrificial
island. For fishermen there are many choices: trout, whitefish, grayling,
arctic charr, pike and perch. The closest spot is River Juutua - flyfishers
catch big trout here especially towards the
end of the summer.
In spring is our main event: reindeer
herders from all over Lapland
gather for the Reindeer Races. During midwinter Skabmagovat -
reflections on the endless night -festival offers different
cultural happenings.
