the city, situated in the well known and busy shopping area of Princes

Exploration of Edinburgh reveals a culture that is as varied as the
architecture. The city is steeped in history and its skyline is
dominated by the famous castle.

The shopper has a field day here, but if the hustle and bustle of the
main street gets too much there are always the well maintained parks
and gardens in which to relax and unwind.

Spectacular views often await at the end of an alleyway in the 'Old
Town,' whilst the more modern architecture of the 'New Town' is also
pleasing to the eye, since it was largely built back in the Georgian
era!

Museums, art galleries, concert halls and theatres offer a further
cultural experience.

Whether you are planning a conference for 120 people, wedding, seminar,
breakfast meeting, meeting for 2 people, Christmas party or an annual

The Balmoral
Address: 1 Princes Street, Scotland
Zip Code: EH2 2EQ
City: Edinburgh
Country: UK
Tel: +44 131 556 2414
Fax: +44 131 557 3747
Url: http://www.thebalmoralhotel.com
Email: thebalmoralhotel@rfhotels.com

Whilst many hotels claim to have Edinburgh's landmarks on their
doorstep, few can say their doorstep is a landmark.

The Balmoral combines service that is attentive yet never intrusive
and has opulent suites and stylish rooms with stunning views towards
Edinburgh Castle, the Old Town or the internal courtyard of the hotel
for utter relaxation.

The hotel's recent £7 million refurbishment programme includes all 188
bedrooms, the Sir Walter Scott Suite and seven further conference and
banqueting suites, Hadrian's Brasserie, number one restaurant and the lobby.

The Balmoral has many delights on offer: Michelin-starred number one
restaurant with outstanding cuisine provided by Chef Jeff Bland; Hadrian's
for chic and informal dining; Palm Court for over 50 delicious cocktails or
traditional afternoon tea; NB's Bar for a relaxing drink with live
entertainment; and The Balmoral Spa, an exclusive retreat in the heart of
the city.

Centrally located near the leading luxury department stores and next
to Waverley Station, The Balmoral is only 25 minutes by car from Edinburgh
International Airport, making it the ideal accommodation
from which to enjoy the many events held in Edinburgh, including the
Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

All 188 guest bedrooms and suites were fully refurbished in 2003 and
2004. Olga Polizzi, Director of Building and Design, has personally
overseen the refurbishment of the bedrooms.

The 168 guest bedrooms and 20 suites have been individually designed.
Each bedroom has its own characteristics, borrowed from our Scottish
heritage, which offers a true refuge in which to relax or escape. The
striped carpets and paint colours in the bedrooms have the earthy colours of
the moors, mists and heathers that one associates with Scotland. Natural
fabrics were used throughout: linens, silks,
wools and leather and introduced on headboards, valances and comfortable
armchairs.

The artwork has been selected to reflect Scottish themes and
includes artists such as Donald Campbell and his Bluebird, the
Skerrymore Lighthouse and a Circular Tour of the Highlands by Richard
Long.

The blankets, on the end of every bed, are exclusively designed for
The Balmoral by Johnston's of Elgin.

Attention has been given to the in-room facilities to ensure that
whether you visit on business or to enjoy the city and surrounding
countryside, your needs can be satisfied. Each room has individually
controlled air conditioning, spacious marble and ceramic bathrooms
with fluffy towels, robes and luxury amenities, two telephone lines
and independent dataport connection. Fax machine and printer, interactive
national and satellite televisions and in-room
refreshment facilities are discreetly located.

Several bedrooms and suites have magnificent views of Edinburgh
Castle, the Sir Walter Scott Monument and Princes Street. If you
wish to complete your visit to Edinburgh, these rooms can be
reserved for a daily supplement of £50. Other rooms have views of
the city, whilst some are internally facing.

configurations. These rooms are mostly internally facing and are,

Superior Rooms

A warm welcome to the The Balmoral in the heart of Edinburgh from me, Joseph
Winders, Head Concierge at the hotel, and my team.

The Balmoral is situated in the heart of Edinburgh and is well
serviced by all means of transport. Edinburgh Airport is situated
eight miles west from The Balmoral and will take approximately 25 minutes by
car.

When departing Edinburgh International Airport, follow signs for the
A8 and Edinburgh City Centre. This will take you through the suburb
of Corstorphine, passing Edinburgh Zoo on your left and Murrayfield Stadium
on your right. You will soon approach the Haymarket district of the city.

Keep following City Centre signs into the West End junction of Princes
Street. You will then come into a one-way system that takes you through
Charlotte Square and onto Queen Street; follow Queen Street to its full
length. This leads into York Place, passing the National Portrait Gallery on
your right, before eventually reaching a roundabout.
Take the second exit and keep in your right-hand lane. This is Leith Street.
At the end of Leith Street you will come to a set of major traffic lights -
at this point you will see The Balmoral on your
right. At this set of traffic lights take a right turn onto Princes
Street. You will now be at The Balmoral, where our Doorman will
welcome you and look after your vehicle. Please note, we have no car park
on-site; however, our Doorman will park your car in our secure garage,
located off-site. The cost is £20 per night.

The hotel is situated next to Waverley Station, where we will meet
you from your train, taking you to the hotel by taxi.

Whilst you are here, I hope you will have time to explore and take
in the history, sights and sounds of this magical city.

I have put together a list of recommended restaurants in the city
and also some of the major attractions you may wish to visit during your
stay.

If you would like any further information on any activities or would
like me to personally organise a plan for your visit, please send me
an e-mail.

We look forward to welcoming you to The Balmoral, and please do not
hesitate to contact us if you have any queries.
