During the war the hotel was occupied in

The elegant building did not meet modern
criterias of comfort and was
demolished in 1962 with the present building reopening in 1964 at that
date one of the few modern french hotels.
In 1967 it became the first franchisee of
the Sofitel chain.
The original Hotel Splendid opened in
1883 for the winter season,
mostly for british clients wishing to find a milder climate.
It was part of the hotels built in the
"english district" of the Croix
de Marbre near the sea where many villas were built near the anglican
and american churches.
Amongst its first clients was the King of

Also our lovely little hotel is quietly
situated at the heights to the
east of Nice, french RiviŠra, with a view over the city and the
Mediterranean beyond. Closeby is the Golf Club of Monaco.
It is located within a few minutes of the
city, the Promenade des
Anglais is only 5 km away. Ideally placed for visiting the RiviŠra,
being situated on the Grande Corniche. The whole C“te d'Azur is at
your feet. The airport is 12 km away.
We, Rojjana and Ruud, will make sure that
you feel at home in our
accommodation and enjoy your stay in a pleasant relaxed atmosphere.
Breakfast can be served on the terrace or in the dining room. There is

The 4 rooms at La LezardiŠre are

Excavations in Nice have revealed
evidence of human occupation dating back 400 millenia. A Ligurian
stronghold at the dawn of history, around the 4th century B.C. the city
became a trading post for the Greeks of Marseilles. This tiny township,
built around the rocks that overlooked the port on the eastside of the
current quai des Etats Unis, was conquered three centuries later by the
rich Romans, who colonized the hill called Cemenelum, or "Cimiez", from
which they could better defend the city.
