Brownes Dublin
Address: 22 St Stephens Green
Zip Code:
City: Dublin
Country: Ireland
Tel: +353 1638 3939
Fax: +353 1638 3900
Url: http://www.brownesdublin.com

St. Stephen's Green has always been the place to stay when visiting
Dublin, and Brownes continues this fine tradition by offering elegant
bedrooms and suites in a stylishly restored Georgian townhouse.

Brownes is located in the most superb surroundings in Dublin. St.
Stephen's Green is at the heart of this historic city and has
traditionally been the place to stay when visisting. At Brownes,
you are on the doorstep of the cultural, financial and political
districts.

Grafton Street, the main shopping precinct is just around the
corner, where The building itself is steeped in history. Before
1791 it was a single large house and in use as a residence for
Dublin’s society figures as well as the home to Henry Petty, Earl
of Shelbourne.

In 1790 Thomas Leighton took control of the house, demolished it
and built two replacements to be known as 22 and 23 St Stephens
Green. In later years the Ancient and Most Benevolent Order of the
Friendly Brothers of St Patrick purchased the house. On St.
Patrick’s day in 1886, the first meeting took place in what was
to be a long relationship between the brothers and the house.

Today, the nameplates on the door of each room at Brownes
serve to remind us of No, 22’s previous and often illustrious
occupants. Guests have included Samuel Beckett who, it is said,
spent time writing in one of the building’s fine rooms. Browne’s
is one of the few complete examples that remain, of Dublin’s
once-rich Georgian heritage. It is unique in that the original
frontage, complete with restored balcony and canopy still overlook
St Stephens Green, making it a favourite among the city’s Georgian
aficionados. The late 18th century plasterwork in the main rooms
and on the staircase also remains intact.

In 1997 Mr. Barry Canny took over the building and set about his
dream of a boutique, country house property in the heart of the
city centre.

On 1st August 2003 The Stein Group proudly purchased Brownes to
add it to their collection of hotels.

Brownes offers eleven individually designed guestrooms each
furnished in a luxurious style with comfort and character in mind.
All the bedrooms have been tastefully furnished with carefully
chosen fabrics and antique furniture to make the guest feel comfortable, as
if they were in their own home. There are 4
deluxe Double bedrooms that overlook St Stephens Green, with 2 of
the bedrooms having a 4-poster bed. The remaining bedrooms consist
of 3 superior Doubles, 1 Twin & 2 Single bedrooms. Brownes offers
the intimacy and character of a privately run townhouse yet without
forgetting today’s modern conveniences.

Each guest bedroom comes equipped with cable TV, CD player,
air conditioning, ISDN, telephone & fax lines. So whether it is
business for the corporate client or pleasure for the holidaymaker
we offer a welcoming home in the heart of Dublin to one and all.

Situated in St. Stephen's Green, the heart of Dublin’s most
fashionable district, Brownes offers 11 elegant guestrooms and
fine cuisine in a stylishly restored 18th century Georgian
townhouse. Considered one of Dublin's finest small luxury boutique
hotels, at Brownes each room has been individually designed and
furnished with a luxurious sense of style and an eye to detail
making you feel as though you are staying at your favourite country
house hotel. Brownes is also the site of one of Dublin’s most celebrated
restaurants, Brownes Brasserie, which offers
continental cuisine in a romantic setting. Whether you come to
Brownes for the rooms or the restaurant, Brownes is sure to make
your visit unforgettable.

Brownes’ Brasserie is one of Dublin’s most talked about and
stylish restaurants, offering outstanding food served in a
spectacular dining room. The ambiance reflects the sophisticated
and relaxed charm of the Townhouse, making it the perfect place to
have a casual lunch with friends, meet business associates or share
a romantic dinner. The Brasserie seats between 70 and 80 people in
a fully air-conditioned environment, that offers continental
cuisine with an emphasis on seafood, using only the freshest
ingredients from the finest local markets.

After almost two years of extensive renovations, the result was
Butlers Town House, one of Dublin’s finest small hotels. The
owners played a crucial part in the re-design and reconstruction
of the building.

Affirming the atmosphere of a private home, the 20 uniquely
designed bedrooms offer the guest a unique taste of Victorian

city's main tourist attractions, cultural and business centres.
Many of the capital's most popular restaurants and bars are

This elegant Town House has retained many of its original
features, which have been imaginatively interwoven with 21st
century conveniences. Rooms have been individually designed to
