The hotel and restaurant "Schoene-Aussicht" has belonged to the Halbow
family since 1921. The hotel has over 39 comfortable rooms, most of
them facing south and equipped with shower and toilet, cable TV and
telephone.
Party and conference rooms for family gatherings and meetings are
available next to the restaurant. Conference rooms for 4 - 90 guests
are equipped with overhead projectors, flip charts, video system and
projection screens. The large, partially covered garden terrace has
seats for approx. 200 people and offers a wonderful view of the Main
river valley, from the Spessart Hills to the Odenwald Hills.
On our extensive menu you will find local specialities as well as
German and international dishes. Our chefs have put together an
extremely varied menu for parties. Our wide menu selection is topped
off with fresh cakes and pies which are made daily by our own bakery.
We offer specialty beers such as Pils, Schwartzbier and Hefeweizen on
tap. In addition to the Frankfurter "Ebbelwoi" (apple wine), we offer
wine from a wide selection of vineyards.
The hotel is located in the eastern part of Frankfurt. That means the
hotel can be reached from the airport in 30-40 minutes by car. Journey
by taxi from the airport costs approx. 60-70 DM. Public transport is
much cheaper, but it takes about 1 hour from the airport.
Our guests get a free transportation from the hotel to the U7 subway
station, as well as to the Enkheim, Fechenheim and Maintal industrial
area. This service has to be booked in advance.

Welcome to the Schlosshotel Kronberg - a house with a long tradition
Castle Friedrichshof, today the Schlosshotel Kronberg, was built 1889
by Empress Victoria. She lived here until 1901 and made this place a
center of hospitality with her charme and her liberal attitude. This
magnificent spirit is preserved until today and gives the Schlosshotel
Kronberg its unique atmosphere.
The Empress Frederick, founder of this house, was the widow of
Frederick III, King of Prussia and German Emperor, and mother of
William II, familiar to the world as the Kaiser. She was born at
Buckingham Palace on November 21st, 1840 – the eldest child of Victoria
Queen of England and the Prince Consort.
As a child she was given the title of Princess Royal which not only
marked her as the sovereign’s eldest daughter but distinguished her as
heiress to the throne if the male issue of her parents should fail.
After a brilliant beginning to life she came to Berlin in 1858 as the
wife of the heir to the Prussian throne with the assured prospects of
power and influence; it was felt by her friends and family that her
character and gifts would ensure that the popularity and acclaim of her
early days would follow her to the end. That was not to be.
Her father-in-law, Emperor William I, lived on (he died when he was
91); she and her husband had the cruel fate of waiting for their turn,
which was only to come when it was too late; however they were forced
to witness teh old Emperor building a system of Government, of which
they profoundly disapproved. Though always dutiful to the Emperor they
had planned for thirty years, during which they stood on the threshold
of power awaiting their turn, how they would steer Germany away from
dangerous policies, away from reactionary elements towards the road to
tolerance and prudence.
When the old Emperor died in March 1888, his son was stricken with
cancer and reigned for 99 days only. Instead of the influence and power
which she had looked forward for three decades the Empress’s hopes and
happiness lay shattered around her before she was 50. As she wrote to
her mother Queen Victoria „I disappear with him“.
This house designed by her, embellished by her, marks her disappearance
from the broad stream of German life; it is a monument to her husband
and a reminder of the world which they had together hoped to create.
The Empress lived for seven years after Friedrichshof was finished and
though it might be easy to argue that her life was secluded and
unhappy, that would not be an entirely correct description of it. For
she was comforted by her surroundings. Outside, her childhood influence
was reflected in the landscape garden based on England and many Tudor
reminiscences in the architecture of the house. Inside she enjoyed her
artistic collections and her remarkable library. Here were many of the
English classics and a wide assortment of English books on politics,
economics, and philosophy as well as the outstanding German
contributions to learning. Unlike many owners of books hers were not
for show but for use.
The Empress died from an excrutiatingly illness at Friedrichsdorf on
August the 5th 1901, surrounded by her children. Her body was taken to
Potsdam, where it now lies beside her husband.

and his team offer culinary national and international specialities à

The 18-hole golf course - Standard and Par 68 - is shaped by rolling
tracks, several doglegs as well as Greens with noticeable inclination
and steps. Picturesque streams crossing the area are a further
difficulty on the delightful, 50 years old ground. The golf-course
nestles harmoniously in the park's landscape.
The golf course can be used by our guests on all weekdays and weekends
if they are member in an international golf-club and have a handicap
(weekend 28, during the week 36). The club has no tee times.
Tournaments can block the course some days in the high season. Our
