Britax has been working with leading car
manufacturers in a major
crash testing program to attain specific vehicle approval for its
new Duo Isofix seat.
As its name suggests, the seat is
designed to take full advantage
of cars equipped with Isofix mountings.
Isofix is the new standard for car seat
installation, which is
being adopted by vehicle manufacturers worldwide. The main benefit
of Isofix is that the system creates a rigid link between the child
seat and the car. As well as this extra solidity, it also removes
the risk of slack installation – which is one of the key misuse
areas with products installed with an adult seat-belt. The rigid
linking system also makes installation of the seat quicker than
when using a seat-belt.
The Duo Isofix seat can also be installed
using a regular lap
and diagonal seat-belt as many consumers will have two or more cars,
of which only one may have Isofix anchorage points.
Currently Isofix seats require specific
vehicle approval. As a
result of an exhaustive crash test programme conducted with the
relevant authorities and vehicle manufacturers the Duo Isofix is
approved for use in 130 vehicle models with more to follow.
The first, and currently only, seat of
its type on sale in the UK,
the Duo Isofix will be available from April 2002 in a choice of two
fabrics.

Remagen Ltd was established in April 1998
by Philip Dykins and
Mike Hughes, as a specialist sub contract manufacturer of automotive
fabric components. We mainly provide seat covers on a 'just in time'
basis for the transport industry.
We have established an excellent

presently manufacture a significant percentage of van seat covers
for the UK market. The nature of our work demands consistently high

cutters and sewing machinists. We make efficient use of both
